At the heart of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) lies our values.

As a responsible asset manager and corporate citizen, we believe that we have a role to play in championing sustainability and helping to build a stronger and more resilient financial future for us all. We do this by embedding sustainability considerations in our day-to-day operations.

Responsible Investing to us, is an extension of our core purpose, that is to generate long term sustainable returns for our clients. • ESG Integration

ESG integration is the systematic inclusion of Environmental, Social, and Governance factors in the investment decision making and portfolio construction process.

Within our initial idea generation phase, ESG helps us to identify potential tail risks and/or best-in-class practices. This allows us to take a more holistic fundamental research process which subsequently guides our thoughts on stock valuations and trading technical.

Once portfolios are constructed, ESG becomes an additional portfolio risk management tool by increasing awareness about the portfolio’s exposures to certain negative ESG risk factors.
  • Exclusion Policies

In addition to ESG integration, we also apply a distinct set of filters to exclude companies that are involved in business activities that are not aligned with our values. These include:
    Controversial Weapons

We support the international treaties and legislations prohibiting involvement in controversial weapons due to the indiscriminate effect and disproportionate harm they cause.
    Sanctioned Countries List

We do not invest in countries commonly associated with systematic human rights violations, money laundering and terrorism financing, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
  • Stewardship & Active Ownership

Stewardship is essential to help our investee companies attain and sustain value creation, this includes exercising our voting rights with our clients' best interests in mind.

Engagement priorities are based on the materiality of the ESG issue at hand and the level of exposure we have to the investee company. This is conducted through 1-1 session, group investor meetings, written communications or business conferences.

We conduct approximately 1,500 meetings per year with our investee companies which provides us the opportunity to engage with them. These are some of the topics we discuss with our investee companies:
    Strategy
    Business Operations
    Financials
    Environment
    Human Capital
    Corporate Governance
