Managing Director & Executive Director
Dato' Teng Chee Wai is the founder of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”). Over the past few decades, he has built the Company to be the fastest growing independent investment management house in Malaysia with RM82 billion in assets under administration as at 31 August 2023. 

In his capacity as Managing Director & Executive Director, Teng manages the overall business and strategic direction as well as the management of the investment team. His hands-on approach sees him actively involved in investments, product development and marketing. Teng's critical leadership and regular participation in reviewing and assessing strategies and performance has been pivotal in allowing the Company to successfully navigate the economically turbulent environment.

Teng's investment management experience spans more than 30 years, and his key area of expertise is in managing absolute return mandates for insurance assets and investment-linked funds in both Singapore and Malaysia. In addition, Teng is also the Director of Bintang Capital Partners Berhad, AHAM Capital's Private Equity subsidiary.

Prior to his current appointments, he was the Assistant General Manager (Investment) of Overseas Assurance Corporation (OAC) and was responsible for the investment function of the Group Overseas Assurance Corporation Ltd. 

Teng began his career in the financial industry as an Investment Manager with NTUC Income, Singapore. He is a Bachelor of Science graduate from the National University of Singapore and has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Studies from City University in London.
JOHAN ROZALI-WATHOOTH, CFA
Deputy Managing Director
Johan is the Deputy Managing Director of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”), where he has overall management oversight over the Strategy Department, Public Sector and HNWI Business and Personal Wealth sales channels, as well as the Innovation Lab.

Apart from his role at AHAM Capital, Johan is also responsible for founding and developing AHAM Capital’s Private Equity subsidiary, Bintang Capital Partners, which he leads as its Executive Director and Managing Partner.

Prior to joining AHAM Capital in June 2016, Johan joined Affin Investment Bank Berhad in 2012, and played an instrumental role in leading the merger between Affin Investment Banking Group and Hwang DBS Investment Banking Group in 2014, which saw the creation of the Affin Hwang Capital Group.

Johan has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, working in various fields including corporate restructuring, leverage loan investments, distressed debt investments and private equity investments.

He spent more than 10 years of his career on the investment buy side, working for HSBC Group in Malaysia, and prior to that in the United Kingdom for various leading investment houses including HIG Capital, Highland Capital and Babson Capital. Johan started his career at Arthur Andersen’s (which subsequently became Ernst & Young’s) Corporate Restructuring division in London.

Johan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics, which he attended as a Chevening Scholar. He is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountant of England and Wales, as well as a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charter holder.

In 2012, Johan was appointed Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysian Leprosy Relief Association (MaLRA), an association founded in 1959 to work closely with communities in Malaysia to alleviate the suffering of leprosy patients and their families.

In 2018, Johan was made a Trustee of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation by the Minister of Education, Malaysia. The Foundation was created in 1966 with the aim of providing support to young scholars who aspire to become future leaders of Malaysia.
DAVID NG, CFA
Deputy Managing Director/Chief Investment Officer
David Ng joined AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) in 2002 as Head of Equities and assumed the role of Chief Investment Officer in September 2006. In January 2018, he was made Deputy Managing Director, while retaining his position and responsibility as Chief Investment Officer. He personifies the investment-led culture of the firm.

David has been responsible for successfully steering client portfolios through different market cycles including periods punctuated by periods of significant volatility and uncertainty. His astute and decisive guidance has allowed the Company to remain ahead of its peers. Under his foresight and vision, the team has evolved from having a domestic focus to one with regional investment capabilities and corresponding track record. 

The investment team’s search for alpha is centred around an absolute return investment philosophy. He encourages his team to have a 360-degree perspective by focusing not only on finding good ideas, but keeping their ears on the ground and their eyes to the world as well as being forward-looking.

He graduated with a double degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Law from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia; and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charterholder. He started his career at a large law firm before venturing into fund management with a local bank-backed fund management house in 1998.
PEGGY LIEW
Chief Operating Officer
Peggy Liew was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) in November 2010. Her responsibilities encompass the overall planning, execution and administration of the company’s business, operational and fiscal objectives in major functions relating to Finance, Operations, Business Support and Human Resource.

Peggy brings with her more than 30 years of work experience in various industries, of which 25 years of her professional experience are in the capital market industry.

Prior to joining the Company as Head of Operations in July 2008, Peggy spent seven (7) years in a multi-national fund management house as the Head of Operations and six (6) years in a local bank back unit trust management company where she oversaw fund valuations, operational activities, internal sales channel, customer service as well as office administration within the company. She holds certifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
SHAHRIN SHAIKH MOHD
Chief Compliance, Risk & Legal Officer
Shahrin Shaikh Mohd joined AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) as the Chief Compliance, Risk and Legal officer in January 2012 and brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the fund management, unit trusts and capital market regulatory framework. He is entrusted by the Board and Managing Director of the Company to supervise the overall implementation and communication of risk governance and compliance framework on top of overseeing legal matters, anti-money laundering initiatives, anti-bribery initiatives and risk management for the company.

Shahrin began his career with the Securities Commission Malaysia where he spent more than 15 years in various capacities covering multiple areas such as reviewing corporate proposals (which includes Initial Public Offering, acquisitions, rights issues, unit trusts); review and development of policies and guidelines; as well as supervision and examination of unit trusts and fund management companies.

Shahrin’s experience include a stint at the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia (CMA) where he acted as a consultant to the CMA in reviewing and enhancing the mutual funds regulatory framework in Saudi Arabia. Shahrin graduated with a double major in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, England and also holds an AML certification with a distinction from Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).
ALLEN WOO
Chief Technology Officer
Allen Woo is the Chief Technology Officer of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”). He oversees the Information Technology and Office Administration department.

Allen’s responsibilities encompass spearheading new technology initiatives and discovering approaches to reap synergies within the company. In addition, he is responsible for embedding a culture of innovation within the company by promoting organisational flexibility.

Formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Hwang DBS, Allen brings with him over 20 years’ of experience in the planning, administration of financial controls, and managing commercial operations across banking, manufacturing, chemical and IT industries in the Asia Pacific Region. He is responsible for successful implementation of programmes that have realised tangible business benefits.

Allen is a Chartered Management accountant and holds a MSc in Computing from the University of DeMontfort, UK.
VINCENT SIAU
Chief Sales Officer, Partnership Business
Vincent was re-designated as Chief Sales Officer, Partnership Business on 1 January 2023. In his new role, Vincent is primarily responsible for strategically planning and developing strategies to drive the achievement of the company's objectives within the Partnership Business division.

Joining the company as a Client Portfolio Manager in 2006, he was then promoted to Head of Unit Trust Consultant in 2007 where he was responsible for developing its agency business. In 2008, he was re-designated as Head of Institutional Business, before assuming the role of Head of Retail and Partnership Business in 2014, where he built the company’s agency and expanded its IUTA and CUTA platform businesses, as well as direct retail sales team and developing its strategies. In 2017, he was promoted to Chief Sales & Regional Officer where he oversees and was responsible for the Institution, Corporate & HNWI Business, Regional Business, Partnership Business and Private Retirement Scheme.

He began his career in share trading at Phileo Allied Bank in 1996 in share trading services and was responsible for marketing share trading accounts, share margin facilities, execution of share trading orders, and the provision of services for their customer banking needs. He was then head hunted by Public Bank to set up share trading centre for the bank branches and was then transferred to the bank’s main branch in Johor Bahru to head the share investment business, which eventually became one of the top performing branches.

Vincent studied and is trained in the field of management accounting and marketing, has over 20 years of experience in financial services industry, specifically in share trading and investment account servicing. He is a Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence (“CMSRL”) holder for fund management, a Shariah Registered Financial Planner (“RFP”) and a Certified Financial Planner.
ESTHER THYE
Chief Officer
Esther has more than 21 years of experience in marketing and sales, primarily in the financial services industry. She has been with AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) for over 15 years. She is responsible to lead, develop and grow the Personal Wealth Business team, build the asset size and profitability, as well as to align sales objectives with firm business strategy. In addition to heading the retail sales team, Esther is also responsible to manage the Customer Service, Contact Centre, as well as the Client Experience teams.

Prior to joining Hwang Investment Management in 2005, Esther has previously worked in various local and international asset management companies.

Esther is an Associate Financial Practitioner (AFP) who holds an advanced Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
CHAN AI MEI
Chief Officer, Intermediary Distribution and PRS
Chan Ai Mei is the Chief Officer, Intermediary Distribution and PRS of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”). In her capacity as Chief Officer, she is responsible for the overall management and development of intermediary distribution, PRS as well as to oversee the distribution of funds through the Financial Institutional channel.

She joined the company as the Head of Financial Institutional business in 2010 and assumed the role of Chief Marketing Officer in 2014. She was re-designated to her current role in 2017.

During her stint as the Head of Financial Institutional Distribution, she was responsible for overseeing and driving the growth of third-party distribution channels for AHAM Capital and developing a team that services the financial institutions and business partnership teams that distribute our products.

Prior to her role at AHAM Capital, she was with Standard Chartered Bank for five (5) years where she was involved in the Wealth Management business driving sales of investment products as well as leading a team of Investment Consultants. She also spent close to seven (7) years in Citibank as a Personal Banker and subsequently managed a team.

She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Marketing) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and is also a Certified Financial Planner.
ANTON TAN
Chief Officer, Product Solutions & Customer Experience
Anton is the Chief Officer, Product Solutions & Customer Experience of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”). In his current capacity, Anton is responsible for overall product development as well as driving the wealth and advisory business. He also oversees customer experience including strategies to reach, engage and deepen relationships across all client segments. He joined the Company in 2015 as the Head of Wealth & Advisory.

Anton brings with him decades of experience in the financial services and capital market industry, where he was attached to the Investment Research team of a multi-national banking corporation. He also spent close to six (6) years in a local bank as the Senior Manager of Investment Products where he was responsible to drive the bank’s product strategies and recommendations to clients covering Unit Trust and Structured Products.

Anton is a Capital Markets Services Representative’s License (CMSRL) holder.
JAYCE LOH
Director, Regional Business
Jayce Loh joined AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) in December 2010 and assumed the role of Director of Regional Business in February 2014. Jayce is responsible for leading and overseeing the regional business wealth team which encompasses several sales channels and includes seven branches across Malaysia to drive growth and new business opportunities.

Jayce has two decades of experience in the banking, wealth management and asset management industry. Prior to joining the Company, Jayce held leadership positions in leading foreign banks where she oversaw various sales functions covering banking, investments and wealth management. 

Jayce is a Capital Markets Services Representative’s License (“CMSRL”) holder for fund management, and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
SHAWN KONG
Senior Director, Institution, Corporate & HNWI Business
Shawn Kong is the Senior Director of Institution, Corporate and HNWI Business of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”), where he is responsible for formulating and driving growth of the Institution, Corporate & HNI Business segment of the Company. Shawn joined AHAM Capital in 2010, before being promoted as the Head of Institution, Corporate & HNI Business in January 2014. His responsibilities encompass expanding market share and enhancing business relationships, as well as promoting career development for his team.

Prior to joining AHAM Capital, Shawn was a financial analyst at Shell Malaysia and a consultant at KPMG advisory.

Shawn graduated with first class honours in Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Finance from University of London.
AMRAN ZAKI
Senior Director, Public Sector & HNWI Business
Amran Zaki Mohd Nasir is the Senior Director of Public Sector and HNWI Business at AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) since June 2017. He is responsible to develop and promote Islamic and conventional fund management services and products to government-linked companies, public section institutions and HNI Business segment.

Previously, he was a Manager at the MIFC Promotions Unit at Bank Negara Malaysia from August 2011 to May 2017, overseeing development and promotion of Shariah-compliant foreign currency mandates to Islamic fund management companies under the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (“MIFC”) initiative.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Denver, Colorado, USA in 1998 and is a Capital Markets Services Representative’s License (“CMSRL”) holder for fund management.

Teng Chee Wai is the founder of Affin Hwang Asset Management Berhad (Affin Hwang AM). Over the past decade, he has built the Company to be the fastest growing and only independent investment management house in Malaysia’s top three, with an excess of RM47 billion in assets under management as at 31 December 2018.​

​In his capacity as Managing Director / Executive Director, Teng manages the overall business and strategic direction as well as the management of the investment team. His hands-on approach sees him actively involved in investments, product development and marketing. Teng’s critical leadership and regular participation in reviewing and assessing strategies and performance has been pivotal in allowing the Company to successfully navigate the economically turbulent decade.
